Searching Ebay, and wide range or prices. Seems Aloris and Dorian command the best price. Are the knock offs any good? Quite a bit of difference in price.

I use a import QC tool post.. like it just fine. Much better then the old lantern tool post. I'm sure you'd like any over the old one.

No doubt that Aloris & Dorian are the best of the best. Friend has an Aloris, and the feel is silky, like an old Starrett micrometer.

I bought the import version from Penn Tool Co. and use it daily. It's well finished for Chinese mfg, and costs 20% of the USA brands.

The wedge type is more accurate than the piston (and higher priced) -- it uses a tapered sliding wedge to lock the toolholder.

I'd buy the Aloris/Dorian if cost is no object. The Penn Tool version is a dead copy, not as perfectly finished.
