I just had my EBAY ID stolen. Fortunantly, caught it right away, and got it back by working with EBAY through their chat line. The jerk must have cracked my passwork somehow and had listed 2 vehicles for sale. I've got the email address he switched my account to. Is there anyway I can track him down?

Yea, post his email information here...

He probably sent you Email that you thought was from Ebay and you probably followed a link on his spoofed Email directing you to his "Fake" Ebay login where you entered your Username/Password.

If you really want to catch this guy, you'll need to look through all of your Email and see if you can find an Ebay spoof that he sent you with an Embedded URL..

At the least we could mail bomb him through some open proxies...

What kind of cars was he selling using your account? You could have bid on them at a very low price with another account, then "end" end the auction with your account and see if he will still sell you the cars for 5 bucks http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//smile.gif

BTW, if this ever happens, don't report it to Ebay. Instead report it HERE so we can track them down.. Once they know you've found out, they are gone and usually clean up quickly...

I don't know whose Email it was, probably just some other innocent sap hacked into, so I'm not inclined to cause him anymore grief, but would sure like to get the jerk. Is there some way to find out the owner of an email address? Like you can with phone numbers? We haven't had any spoof emails recently (learned about that 6 mo ago) so don't know how this happened.

By the way, thanks Evan for the Mozilla advice. I'd say we've had about 2 popups since switching.

Then you buy a halloween rubber mask and a aluminum ball bat, lay in the hedges out front and kneecap the sucker.

He won't die, but he'll have a limp the rest of his life. Never hit in the head with a ball bat. Blood/Brains gets all over you.

Never, ever under any means do anything on Ebay via a message you got in the mail, don't even look at an auction someone sends you or check your my ebay page.

Do it the hard way by typing or copy and pasting the item number to the ebay search page.

Oh forgot to mention,I noticed problems with ebay at the same time I noticed"powered by IBM" says a lot IMHO.

I was surfing the XXX sites the other nite and a popup says YOUR COMPUTER HAS BEEN INFECTED by a virus with address 168.98.1.1 from Nigeria. Really looked like the Microsoft popup window, a genuine counterfeit and a good one. But the URL wasn't from Microsoft, it was something like http:\\gimmeyourmoneydummy.com.

If it weren't for those XXX sites the internet as we know it wouldn't exist. It's the same reason XXX theaters went under when VCRs became ubiquitous.

They have the most popular non-porn website on the entire internet, making its rank 416,000,000th overall.

(ala the Simpsons IIRC)

I was watching something on one of the educational channels regarding the adult industry. It's the testing ground for a lot of the new technology. BETA and VHS were really "test marketted" in the porn industry. They can get quick feedback, and most of the porn companies have the money to give it a try.

pretty humorous in my opinion.

The big advantage of VHS XXX was that you could mail it. The Postal Inspector could open a reel of Super 8, pull out a few feet of film, and spot the porno by eye. When doing the same thing with VHS, all he's see was brown tape. Just the goofy way the regs were written.

On the Net, I have no problem with XXX sites, so long as they don't involve women and fish. Have to draw the line somewhere.

The difference between kinky and perverted:
kinky is when you use a feather and perverted is when you use the Whole Chicken,,,,,,,,,
