I am looking for a set of stainless or brass calipers, but not a vernier set, just a set scaled in 1/16" divisions.

General and Sears used to sell them, but I don't see them in thier catalogs.I need a few sets to give my help at work so when they pull bar stock for customers they pull the right size instead of mistaking 1-15/16 for 2" like the otherday.

Thanks for the links, but the one I am looking for just has 1/16-1/8-3/16 and so on in big letters/lines.

I wish I could teach these guys to use dial calipers, but it's had to get them to use a decimal chart.

Teach em to read a tape measure. Cheaper and Sears warrantees's em.

That's how they got to where they are now, they know how to read a tape, but tapes do no good on round bar and hex stock on rolled ends.

Add to that one guy is 66 and the other 72.Bifocals are murder so I hear.We only carry even 1/16"ths so there is no need for a vernier scale.

Weird,
Why not give them a Pi Tape, available for around $8.00. It has one side that is the usual inches divided in sixteenths. The back reads diameters of round stock when wrapped around such. A link to a page is

Darin, found the set that I have. They are called "The executive pocket chum". Looked on the web to see if I could find a manufacturer but no luck. THese were given away by vendors, think mine came from Anchor Packing Co. There are three of these on ebay right now each at $9.99 each. Maybe one of the advertizing places still have them so you can put your name on them.

Lee Valley used to have a nice 4" brass pocket caliper(page15 2002/2003 catalog). They no longer carry them.
