Hi,

I saw your post stating that you supply tools to machinists. I'm looking for a carbide end mill with a 60 degree included angle and 1/64" radius on the tip and was wondering if you might be able to supply this or direct me to a company that could. It will be used to cut/extend splines in an automotive axle using a vertical milling machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated, emj.

EMJ,

What you describe really wouldn't be a good idea for cutting splines.

You are much better off using a flycutter and single point HSS bit ground to the right profile...you can probably find an insert if you *need* carbide because of the hardness.

By trying to use an endmill "point", your active surface speed is going to be really low, your feed would have to be even slower.
