Nifty new materials. Strong as steel, half as dense.

An aluminum-titanium laminate equivalent of calcium carbonate/pliant protein layerings in animal shells. The neat article is here (http://www.spacedaily.com/news/materials-05h.html)

Applications include armor, peizoelectrics, vibration dampening and quite a bit more. How far off practical application is, is not detailed.

I pefer to laminate bologna on bread with cheese and lettuce. I don't know about stonger and tougher but the bologna burps last and last.
