Back in the days when a mechanic had to make the parts before he could bolt them on.

those were also the days when they were more apt to properly diagnose the problem on the first try. Now we start with the front bumper and work our way back until it either starts or the client runs out of money.

Reminds me of when my dad told me about the
mechanic coming to you, He had a truck with a
lathe and portable boring bar, He said the guy would jack up the truck, pull the rear wheels slap on some pulley and belt contraption attach it to the lathe and go to town. Rebuild your engine, turn brake drums,
and pour bearings right there on the farm.
We have it pretty easy these days.

That's back when we had mechanics, now we have parts changers.

Today when you run a diagnostic the first thing that comes up on the screen is"check credit" http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

Sad part is,I asked the kid at Autozone for a GM 63amp internal reg and a brush set, just for kicks since he didn't have a clue http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif
