This product just got a favorable review in Fine Woodworking, June 2005.

Disclaimer - This product may or may not know the difference between metalworking machinery & woodworking tools. The true test will be if it works for Hoffman.

Corrosions chapter 16, verse 11, subphrase 27:

For thee who would have thy tools lain out of doors, may they rust in peace,
and should thee be willing to ignore the drain valves on thy compressors, may they find relief from the pressure at last,
and when thy wd 40 is used up and none will be found, may thy seized-up bearings finally be free from their dizzy lives.
Where thy paints shall not be replaced, may thine hidden surfaces finally see the light of day,
and where thine efforts have produced unuseful artifacts, may said artifacts find comfort among their peers in the box in the corner.

Whereupon a consideration of the above shall occur to thee, then may bright metal once again reflect life-giving light from the sun into thy weary eyes,
and may thine air tools face no lack of nourishment and be without poison,
and may all thine rotating parts do so ever as much as the earth shall spin,
and may all thine blemishes on thy material goods remain hidden until called upon to show their naked faces.
And grant to whomsoever will attend to these time-worn and neglected areas the courage and and resolve to bring new life to metalkind,
and may the artifact undergo a transformation as exquisite as that of a caterpillar to a butterfly.

Whatsoever thee shall do or not, and howsoever thee shall do it or not, make these things certain: thou shalt always respect the box in the corner, for therein lies some of thy most valuable works, thou shalt never plug in thine wet machinery, lest an inconquerable electrolytic effect lay waste to thy fragile body, and thou shalt always labor as required such that thine eyes can set gaze upon the workshop floor.

Now that I've stoped laughing, about the product. It sounds too good to be true. In thier website I clicked on the products button and up came a few, most of them were just blanks, no info, I was interested in the gun barrel cleaner. if it works as well as the "Evaporust" it would be a gold mine. However nothing there.

I just purchased a used Smithy 3 in 1 that had rust on all exposed metal due to a shop fire where some PVC pipe burned. The previous owner had let it sit for several years with no treatment. I did a web search for rust removal and found links to the Evapo-rust web site and even though a bit skeptical of the product, I decided to give it a try. I ordered some from a local distributor and have used it the past 2 weeks to clean up the machine.

First I used an old wood chisel to scrap off the top layer of rust, dust and dirt. Aside from using a toothbrush on the more stubborn areas and nooks and crannies, I only used a paper towel to wipe down the parts after soaking for a few hours. I give you the results:

Ah Ha, that stuff really does work!

Do you also do underwater tool salvage? If so, there's the strong possibility of a partnership with Hoffman.
