Talking with a friend at breakfast Monday and he lined me up with a fellow who is moving and HAD a lathe for sale. South Bend 13"swing 4' bed, quick change gears, under motor drive and here's the best part He wanted $400 for it. So that afternoon a quick 25 mile drive and a peek at it led to a $350 purchase including a 3 jaw cushman soft jaw chuck, 4 jaw chuck, face plate, a loris 100 tool holder, shaka #3 morris live center & misc cutting bits and small parts.
Have two lathes already but couldn't pass a deal like that up. Thursday PM hauled it home and the only thing I can find wrong with it is 1/2 turn slack in the cross feed screw and that's no problem to remedy!! When a guy runs into a deal like this just makes his day doesn't it? (or at least worth gloating about)

Nice score! Confirms my belief that if you have an interest in something long enough and enough people find out about it and eventually "stuff" starts to gravitate your way http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

I hate to burst your bubble...but that machine is only worth about fifty bucks.

I dont want you to be sad about paying an extra 300 for it...SOOOO...I'll give you 350 bucks and take it away.
