Sweet! Saw the Big Muskie before they cut it up. I think that I still have a photo somewhere. Seems like a loss.
Once, there was a time when they moved locomotives' under their own power. Way back when, the railroad put a spur in at Washington Court House's park to move the loco into there. Now we make big trucks to carry them around. Must not be pushable. Seems like its all backwards.
That is some bucket from Big Muskie! I would have liked to see that machine operate. Put a roof and doors on that bucket and you would have a dandy shop. The floor would be excellent, but it would probably be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
Yep the Muskie was a shame, they cut it up too quick.
He we have a similar problem with idiot politicians.
We have one of the few remaining Shay locos, the road it's displayed next to is set to be widened. When asked by the state what the city council wanted to do with it,the a--hole mayor at the time sid scrap it!
Once the lynch mob formed at city hall he changed his mind and decided to spend some money on a new coat of paint.
I and a few others have made plans to "steal" it if and when the highway gets widened. But in the meantime we are putting a fire under city halls'a-- to at least build a pavillion over it before it rots down.
