View Full Version : Super Glue or Krazy Glue gel
I notice when using either of these makes (only in the gel type) when they cure they leave a white "chalky" residue.
Does any body know why this happens???
I never see this with the liquid glues only the thicker "gel" ones.
Thanks Graeme

GRH,
If you look at the cap end of a used tube of the "thin" super glue, you'll notice that it also has a white, chalky appearance. Unfortunately, like you I don't know why or what the chemistry is...

The "odorless" CA adhesives do not cause nearly as much of this frosting as the regular kind, but they give a slightly weaker bond.

It is a reaction with moisture. Since it is in an area out of the bond, the bond strength is not affetsed.
This affinity for moisture is used for lifting fingerprints that might not be found by normal means.
