I recently acquired a Van Norman #12 in pretty good shape. However, the chain drive (toothed chain)for the power table will not stay on the gears. I'm told there is a different way to adjust the tension. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Bill

I have a VN but it is the bigger 22L.
You might try

I go there often when I need advice on mine.

Thank you, sir, I'll give it a try. The 12 was heavy enough to get out of the previous owners cellar. It doesn't look like the drive has worked for awhile.

The motor slides left and right to adjust chain tension.

I found that. The problem is that when you snug the chain up and rotate the drive by hand, after a couple of revolutions, the chain jumps and locks up. Trying to find out if the chain should real tight, slack or somewhere inbetween.

Thanks, Bill
