View Full Version : repairing centrifical pump impeller

Well, another impeller has failed here. This time in critical equipment - the hot tub. I'm getting tired of shelling out for these plastic underdesigned, expensive, hard to remove, custom made items. Anybody had any luck trying to repair them? This impeller is not too bad. Looks like it developed a crack near the center causing it to wobble and also let water into the spindle mount and spun the brass treaded insert loose. I've got a mind to rebuild it but as hard as the pump is to get at, should just order one, but will be back in the same boat (tub). Would love to improve the thing if possible, but bonding a machined aluminum hub to what little plastic this thing has is iffy. There is no way this pump ran dry, by the way.

It is better to buy a new impeller or a better pump, the one we have running now is at least 12 years old, no problems.

I have a hot tub and a friend of a friend wanted to get rid of one so now we have two.

the one I use has 2 flo-masters and the other is a hayward.
