You fellows' acquisitions always amaze me and I figured no way I'll get that lucky but I finally stumbled into pretty good deal.
Last week Big Boss says here, this old pressure washer's wo' out and won't run; it's yours if you want it. I drug it home today....it's a little 5 hp. Briggs powered rig that looked tired but pretty decent.
It hasn't run in years so I snatched the fuel tank and carb off. Yep, nothing but varnishey goop in the tank and the carb was completely gummed up. Took out the plug and poured some transmission fluid in the cyl. to let it soak in while attacking the fueling bits & pieces.
I stripped and soaked the carb parts, cleaned all the drillings with a fine wire and compressed air, cleaned the tank, reassembled everything, dumped in some fresh gas and it started on the first pull! My wife said what the heck are you cackling about? Women just don't understand manly things....how sad for 'em.
It ran great for about a minute and then quit. 15 minutes later I finally tracked it down to a faulty low oil pressure shut-off switch so off came the wire and she started right back up and ran perfect with just a half turn leaner on the idle mixture screw. I tend to check the oil often on everything I have so I'm not gonna spring for a new one.
I spent an hour or so pressure washing lawn mowers, edger, weed eater, etc., cackling the whole time. I tried to wash the cat but she didn't like the idea too much.
Now that I got a start on this acquisition business, maybe I'll stumble across a nice mill somewhere just dying for a good pressure wash and a respray!
