I am looking to buy my first milling machine, I have found two that I am like, the Sieg X3 at www.lathemaster.com (http://www.lathemaster.com) and the enco model 307-3387. Unfortuantely the sieg x3 is currently out of stock. I was wondering what anyone thought of either of these two machines, before I make up my mind.

The X3 has a dovetail column. It is generally highly respected by those that have them. I would consider it to be the more accurate of the two.

The Enco is a mill-drill with a round column. The round column means if you have to raise the spindle to change tools, you will lose your settings and have to re-zero. But the MD probably has a bigger work envelope.

While the M/D will most likely have a larger work volume the work volume of the X3 is not that far off of a 6x26 Knee Mill like the grizzly 3102/3 (?) at around half the money.

Lathemaster has a yahoo group so you should be able to pick up some info there
