Need some input, trying to decide between using water based or oil based cutting fluid with my new lathe. Live in Florida where rust is always a big problem, but like the claim of low toxicity for water based fluids. Doing small stuff so only an occasional dab of either required, no spraying etc. Any suggestions of brands, their characteristics and clean-up suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Berol

Been awhile since I had to use flood colant but I hated the water mixed stuff. Even if changed often it grew things in the sump that was really scary, may be there is some thing better now the last stuff we used did'nt grow stuff but it rusted the ways and smelled like toilet cleaner.I always liked plan old Lard oil, smells like a barbecue.
