Hello again,

Another quick question, should I cover my leadscrew and cross table screw with some sort of grease or should I just brush on some oil?

Thanks

I've used both; I think the general recommendation is oil (probably way oil would be appropriate), but I've tried molybdynm-fortified grease to see if it would make any startling difference (it didn't).

Maybe some of the other folks have better data. I doubt, in that application, it matters a whole lot. For some things, like precision bearings, using the correct oil DOES matter greatly, but that's not the case here.

Oil. Grease collects chips. Oil drips off carrying chips with it.

Only use greas if the thing is bagged and you have no other choice. Way oil (ISO68) is the best choice nearly all the time.
