www.dreamwater.com (http://www.dreamwater.com)

It's a free thing with ads. Pay a fee and the ads go away.

There are lots of free and nearly free web hosts out there. Your ISP should have space for you, link to it by buying a domain name from www.namesecure.com. (http://www.namesecure.com.) You can get webspace there too.

You might google "web hosting review" or something similar and see if someone has reviewed web hosts. I found aplace that did a long time ago.

Evan and others will likely have ideas too.

I use a cheapo reseller account for my various web sites. $2.50/month for 400 mb space and 4 gB bandwidth.

Prices are dropping fast. Of course many host companies are underfinanced and severely undermanned. I've used a few which weren't too good, and some which started out good but were sold and then went all to hell.

Free hosting works, too. You usually have to put up with some ads.

Whatever you do, DON'T get a hosting package which includes a domain name. Nothing but headaches that way, since the host usually owns your name, not you. Buy your domain name (that is, www.yoursitename.com) (http://www.yoursitename.com)) yourself, it costs about $7 to $9 a year from a solid domain registrar. The $4.00/year registrars work too, but you have to pay more attention to what you're doing.

I've found the forum at
http://webhostingtalk.com/
useful at times.

If you are interested in running a forum or a game site, or one with large video downloads, or extensive databases, you'll need more resources than the little $2.50 accounts provide.

I have four sites. One is hosted at my ISP, the other three I pay for, but at a ridiculously low rate because they're non-profit sites. So is the one at the ISP, but they don't care http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//eek.gif

I run my own servers at work.

I host half a dozen commercial sites as well as several non-profit sites for free.

I provide free hosting for the Prince George chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society here (http://vts.bc.ca/pgrasc/).

I use my ISP which is my phone company, TDS Telecom for my buisness website. It seems to work out good for me. Very rare is the server down. And I do not have to try to maintain a server
And as a side bonus my phone & internet bills are consolidated on one statement which make me happy. I hate papaerwork!
