    Chuck Lube

I just disassembled a Cushman chuck for cleaning and was wondering what is a good lube to assemble it with.
    Thanks, Mark

I just use a white grease like Lubriplate, but some prefer a moly grease.

I've used graphite, white grease, bearing grease, way oil and EP moly grease. Personally, I couldn't tell any difference except the greases and oils tend to collect small steel particles that would normally just fall out.

I've been using a dusting of graphite on the scroll face and EP Moly on scroll bearing. I use an oil based coolant so there's usually enough splash to keep the scroll face and jaws lubed.

It's a good idea to disassemble your chucks on a regular basis and clean them. If you cut cast iron, clean it after each use.
