Spoke to John stevenson on the phone last night.
Short conversation as he was going out. He did say that Evan had emailed him and that Alistair had also rang him.
Seems that no one has pi$$ed him off but that he taking more of a break from the computer.

I asked about the deleted files but he evaded that question.

I have to go back overseas end of next week for 6 weeks but I pass close to where he lives so I may call in.

I have missed John's contributions lately. His postings here and on the PM board lately have been very sporadic.

I see quite a few of his previous posts on threads I have looked up in the archives, so I don't think he is mass deleting them like some do when peeved for some reason.

Actually we could all maybe take a lesson from him. Anybody here go for more than 24 hours without checking out the site. I keep telling myself I'm spending too much time on the keyes and not enough time doing more productive things in the shop. I admit I spend too much time here enjoying the fellowship. Where the hell else could you go to see a homemade 50Cal or homemade mill and still get all the superfluous (yea, I had to look it up) BS we get here? http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

"time here enjoying the fellowship"

Sounds reasonably productive to me. http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//smile.gif

I think that if an activity is giving you some pleasure/entertainment/enjoyment, have at it. It is nice to get things done in the shop, but not if you feel like you HAVE to go in and work.

Besides, you can classify reading HSM/PM as productive research. I've certainly learned a lot, mostly how little I know and how much I have yet to learn.

You'll get no argument from me! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

I know I'd be a better person if I got more done but you're right, the time here is enjoyable and it does count as a one more golfball for the mayonnaise jar.

I would rather spend the time here than watching the boob tube. I usually get on here about 1630 and quit about 1930 or so.
Watch the news in the morning and that is about all the tv I can handle.

Hhaa, thats the truth. The kid are down stairs watchin TV (cartoons) and I'm up here type this response. This really is a great site to learn from. And I'd rather be learning than burnin (out) with the TV. I need a vacation just to go through the archives and soak it all in. JRouche
