Hello everyone, I am looking at buying a Index model 45 mill with a serial number of 45-8412. Does anyone happen to know how I can find out the year this machine was built?

TIA
Bob

Thanks Steve I already bugged the guy there today asking him other questions. Eventually I will probably have them change it over to R8. I have been reading some threads where the guys are saying that the BS are pulling loose when you use them. I suppose this must because of worn out collets.

My Index Model 40 is a B&S #9 taper and I have not had a problem with "pulling loose". I would buy a set of new collets if I thought I needed them. A set of 11 sizes delivered to my door is $125.19 from these folks.

Steve thanks a ton for the info. That is much cheaper than the $45.00 used I have been quoted.
