Leigh, do you mean a Tucker?

When I first saw Mad Max, I thought there were some cool looking cars Down Under. This new Holden concept car proves that the Aussie's haven't lost their touch! http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/article.aspx?id=10484

Seems like I saw one of those at a roadster show in '68????
Seriously, good looking car!

Looks like a old Packard, guess they couldn't come up with anything new so copy the old.
Its actually based on the FJ holden from around 1953.Hence they play on words name. Bit of a top chop and stretching of the guards. Originals aren't uncommon down here.

I like that car!
When I turned MSN on this morning there was a flash of a new Chrysler concept car. Was a copy of an old Cuda or Challenger. I can't find it right now but it is a good looking car. Much better IMO than the new Charger...that thing is fugly!

If you ask me, its ugly as can be. Looks like a guinea pig with that long ugly rear end.

Cars like that are pretty slick until everyone owns one. I can think of a few cars that I thought were pretty neat looking until they were everywhere. Like the new Beetle.

I was thinking a Chevy from around 1953 or so. Might have the brand wrong, but my then best friend's family had one.
VERY much the same look, only that "toothy" grille is a bit more "Buick" (IIRC) than the car I am thinking of.
That's OK, the young guys that adapted their design into that may not have realized that they had seen one before. Maybe they only saw a picture once......
That's how all this author's plagiarism occurs.
That is very much a mix of two or three 50's vehicles that were commonly seen when I was a kid. Kinda done up like a hot rod / car show version of them, with modified "moon" hubcaps, but still very recognizable.

You're thinking of the 2008 Hemi Challenger - it's rumored to offer a 6.4L(392CID, what a coincidence http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif)500+ HP "hemi" engine as an option. Base price is supposedly going to be 28K.

Did it here 53 years ago. My aunt had one only it was a convertible. I used to ride standing on the seat next to her (It was around 1957 and I was 4 years old). Times have really changed. Looks like they even copied the hood emblem shape and color.

I want three of every car I've seen so far...

That Holden concept car is a Turner without the middle headlight http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//eek.gif

Packard? Chevy? Buick? You gotta be kidding.
49 Mercury! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif Even Hudson had that front design in 48.

HTRN...That's the one! Out of all the retro vehicles lately (T-Bird, Charger, 300, Mustang etc) I think that one is the nicest job so far. Course the 392 won't hurt either http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

Yeah, CCW.... that's another one. Don't think its "THE" one I am remenmbering, but it's mighty close.
A litle custom work and moon hubcaps and you are about there....
Ain't nothin new.......
Even Enron..... that's been done before, even way back in the 1800s, when they didn't even need to fudge the accounting....... what accounting? Accounting was whatever JP and the boys said it was.
