Been retired for eight years and finally finding more time to pursue CNC machining.

I have a Microkinetics Sherline mill and lathe set up which I used in doing medical device prototypes. Although I could do the cad drawings which converts to G-code I would still like to do manual programming.

Have a few books on CNC including Schmid, Gibbs and Crandall and Easy CNC however some of the explainations are beyond me.
My main problem is in programming arcs. Straight line is no problem.

Suggestions please.

The latest issue of Home Shop Machinist has a very good article by Roland Friestad on basic CNC programming. It would be a good place to start. He does address arcs.

Hi Stephen,
you can download a free simulator from www.betatechnical.com (http://www.betatechnical.com) I bought their book and used the simulator and found both to be pretty good for a beginner. If you want to see the book before buying let me know and I'll send it down to you.
