Any ideas for a pool heater for approx 5000 gallons.
100ft of plastic well pipe on roof.
35gallon barrel with copper coils inside heated by a propane torpedo heater.

Hey,Jimco, when we lived in Arizona,we had an inground pool, formerly an aboveground pool.To heat it for almost year around use,I laid 1 1/4in black plastic pipe on the roof,on the side away from the street(North side)and connected the filter motor to one end and the other end ran into the pool. The only trouble we had with three years of use was when someone shut off the switch going to the timer for the pool motor. The next day the motor tried to start and blew a fuse.Come to find out,the water had reversed flow and had melted the impeller in the pump! How hot would that have to get?
We could swim about 9 months out of the year!
Good luck,GH
