I have a friend in Hattiesburg that may be interested, I'm in Gulfport. I have a Clausing 12x36 lathe, a 7x10 mini-lathe, and a very old Rockford horizontal mill that I just got. I went to school at MSU in 1964/65, haven't been there since. I suppose it's changed a bit, huh? I'm about to retire after 32 years with the Air force (civil service), and hope to spend a lot of time in my shop. My friend in Hattiesburg is a dump truck salesman and is on the road a lot, but has a really nice shop. He has a Sheldon lathe, Bridgeport mill, Clausing mill, and lots of other wood lathes, drill press, etc.
It's good to hear from you. Bobby

I am also an alumni of MSU I graduated in 93. I run the family machine shop here in Starkville we have several pieces of CNC equipment, three conventional lathes, three bridgeport mills and other misc. machines. I use the CNC equipment out of nescessity but my love is for the old iron.
Even though my machines are not in the garage or basement I consider myself a HSM because I live at my shop.
I have been looking for others who love to talk about machines and machining as much as I do but they are few and far between in MS. Maybe we can start a club. I don't know if logistics will allow but it may be worth a try. If I can help in any way feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or come by the shop if you get up this way we allways welcome visitors.
P.S. My favorite is a 1947 Monarch 10EE if you have never used one you need to come and try it out IMO it is the best small lathe ever built.
