Hi,

I live in Montara, CA and am getting ready to silver solder a copper boiler (5.5 in od) for a 2 inch scale traction engine. I would love to have the help of an experienced HSM at my side. I could go to you, or you could come to my shop and I'll feed you well. Montara is on the coast about 15 miles south of San Francisco.

I would love to help you, except I am in Maryland.
I built a freelance traction engine in 82 based on a 1907 case catalog. It has a steel boiler because of my copper boiler problems.
It's 1/4 scale and weighs about 400#.
I was poor than (still am) and fabricated everything on it including gearing differential and boiler. It's my favorite engine.
I built a Tom Terning 1/2 scale Case 65 between 84 and 87. We put that on the Baker Fan and it's perfectly square foreward and reverse under load. Peeled the paint right off the stack and smokebox.
Tom did a great design.
I also built his quarter scale after that and have sold it.
A friend is building the third scale Case with a copper boiler and I've helped him with that some.
You'll have a lot of fun and pride with your engine when it's done.
