I teach machine shop and general metals in Warren Michigan. We have a state wide contest every year, called MITES. Its on the web under < mites.cc > there are 40 or so photos in the competition section.

I am seeking any other state wide competitions, (other than VICA) where I can see what other teachers around the country are doing in Metals Machining.

I sure would appreciate any sites that you can send me.

Thanks..

We do VICA, but very loosely. Our ompetition is actually run by the New Hampshire Machining Association, has thousands of dollars in prizes and scholarships, and does quite well. The VICA label is there just because it kind of helps, and our winners can go on to this level afterwards.

If you are looking for an alternative to VICA (we looked at this), there are few, but I do believe the National Tooling and Machining Association

www.ntma.com (http://www.ntma.com)

also has competitions (remember seeing this recently), and I will also be looking into this. Not a big fan of VICA, too much cost for too little actual gain. Leave machining comps to the machinists. Our machining group realizes this, and helps our VICA comp be more oriented to us.
