View Full Version : Building an Electrochemical Grinder

I am interested in building an electrochemical grinder. Would anyone have any information or experiance with this. The concept is using a surface grinder setup and reverse electrolysis to remove metal or any conductive material, regardless of hardness, from the workpiece. Does not workharden or distort. Any information would be welcome, several companies make the machine, but very expensive. Seems to be quite close to an EDM setup in many respects.

I would think the problems with the electrolytes used would be enough to discourage most. Just getting the right chemistry down pat would be a big problem. If you have the chemistry background - go for it, otherwise I would take on something easy - like solving world peace. http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif
