I have a 1947 Model A Southbend metal lathe. I bought a lever operated collet closer that fits my lathe although it may be from a Atlas. It does not work very well. i took it apart and all that was inside was a slotter race with 8 ball bearings. I wonder if it is supposed to have some sort of expansion spring inside it ???
