I just saw hss tool bits that are ground to shape in McMaster Carr. You can buy one of 10 shapes or buy all in a kit. Any of you guys ever seen these before?

Yeah, places sell those -- I've never really seen the point of getting them. You'll shortly have to sharpen them, anyway, so why not just buy blank bits, do the initial grinding yourself, and save some money?

There is one reason I can think of to buy them. If you're not sure what a properly ground toolbit looks like, you could buy a set as patterns. Even with that, though, I wouldn't guarantee that those pre-ground bits are the best patterns to follow. You really need to learn how to grind your own, and why the angles are the way they are, so you can adapt as required by conditions.
