Anyone know of an affordable adjustable tailstock center? I just got a quote from a manufacturer showcased in an old issue of HSM and they only want $600. I need to turn a couple of barrels to lighter contours and really don't want to offset my tailstock as my chambers are showing no runout. I would be a lot more comfortable plugging another center that I could offset

It is not that big of a deal to make an adjustable tailstock center out of a boring head. Just fit it with a MT arbor and a 60 degree center. For the small taper of a rifle barrel, a ball center is not needed.
Or buy a cheap import boring head with a MT arbor and add the center.

Thank you. I just came up with the same idea after doing a Google searchand finding a short article from the Home Metal Shop club in Houston. Looks like my problem is solved.
