If that same surface grinder was at a typical East Coast large plant auction it would bring maybe 50 bucks. I've seen surface grinders ten times nicer than that one, and with original paint, go for $100 to $300. Just last week a perfectly nice Norton 6 x 18 sold for $125 in Jacksonville, FL with chuck.

Bottom line is that eBay seller did alot of slathering of blue for nothing as he'll be taking that thing to his grave if he doesn't drop the price alot.

Oh wait, I just noticed it's in Canada...maybe it will sell in an iron deprived area...

I saw one sold for $125. They took the chuck and gave the grinder to a scrap dealer for $10. No cheap paint job just dirty.

Yes...and you guys have some of the best machine deals in Canada.
Quite a bit of decent stuff comes up on Ebay...most of it is in Ontario. Too bad all the real good deals are "Local pick up only"

What is it with some of these people. I just bought a Wilton 5" Machinist Vise that must have been owned by the same person. It was painted (the last time) in blue house paint of similar hue. Of course, that was over previous paintjobs of black, some light green, and red (which was original it appears?); all of which were cracked and peeling nicely. Paid $20 for it, and after a strip and repaint, I've got maybe $25 in a very nice 5" Wilton that now has a single layer of Hammerite Light Charcoal on it... Even came with a nice set of Brass soft jaws. So I guess it's not all bad if they cover up a nice machine/tool with all that gunk, then we can buy it for a song and fix it... Now if I can just find a 12" Logan in similar condition and price. <gin>

Unfortunately I never seem to see them until after the fact. I do accept messages about good deals though. <grin>

This one actually looks interesting. We don't see machines like this for sale in this neck of the woods very often.

Evan, I was looking at that too. Looks like a kind of cobbled together verticle setup maybe. Sorta like I'll end up doing to my mill :D
There's a cool little 5X10 surface grinder on Fleabay right now. I have to file that under the "Wanna have" file right now til I get the ol' Ohio up and running.

This post is to work around the date stamp problem and will throw the post off the top of the list.
