    Crusader .60 Saga

I've been working on this project for awhile now. First question is the size and shape of the baffle and the groove on the head relevant to each other?

Also i've seen people mention a thread with mistakes listed about this project, i can't seem to find them anywhere. can someone point them out.

    Thanks

Do a search for the crusader .60. I think that will answer your question. I have been working on one also. I made so many mistakes that I set it upon the shelf for a while. Than summer rolled around and I still have not got back to the engine.

One mistake is the drawing calls for one thread and the text talks about another using another thread. The 1/4-32 thread is the correct one. I think it was 1/4-32.
The ports are also located wrong, also seems like there is a problem with the crank shaft. Not sure now what it was.

In what way are the ports wrong. also i've already searched these forums, and have found nothing that describes the mistakes.

Tronica, check part 5 in building the .60 crusader, page 48. There are a couple of erratums. one on the ports and one on the piston.

I seems like some one on the board mentioned the mistake on the crankshaft.
I believe that mistake was that the shoulder on the crank that the prop butts up aginst gives too much end play between the crank and the crank case.

I made the crusader .60 a little while back. I used the plans and it turned out Ok as I caught most of the printed errors. My biggest mistake was trying to make a ringed piston for my first engine instead of just making the lapped piston.
The crank did have excess end play on mine.
I got mine to sputter, smoke and get hot and that was it. The rings just did not seal worth a darn and compression was low. I had issues making rings that would seal.
I lost interest in it and it sits on shelf.
Basically it was my first engine and I think I could do much much better on a second attempt at it.

Gary, I want to see some video of those turbines blowing red hot chunks out the back!

Enjoyed your site. You've almost got me interested to try a turbine some day. I had read the articles and seen the videos some time ago on 5Bears site, but they somehow made it seem a lot harder than your site does.

              Best,

              BW
