Like my dad always wanting a Harley, my goal is to have a full-size lathe sometime. Realistically, i probably won't buy one for years and years, but it gives me something to dream about and sort of work for. If i know about how much i want to spend on a lathe and knee mill and tooling etc i can kind of plan my life around it.
I was paging through some various catalogues looking at lathes and i realized just how little i know about them. Like meehanite vs Turcite B vs ANSI class 50 cast iron vs induction hardened bedways. I realize costs, brand-names and technology will change, but what are some features, both convience wise and quality wise, that i should consider when looking at lathes?
Thanks in advance!
