Well, I spent about 6 hours in the shop working on the gear case. According to the plans this is the most demanding part to make. I must agree, as I got closer to finishing it, I was worried that something would happen and it would get scrapped. As you can see below there are plenty of parts in this case. The oil pump is the brass part, which will have two small gears that go in the recess. To give you a reference of scale, the largest gear you see is .708 diameter. The Oil pump is 1.125 diameter. It took about 2 hours to fit all the parts to the case. You are looking at 40 parts that needed to be machined to go in the gearcase.

Jeff, most impressive. I have a fascination with scale model IC engines but no way have I got the patience to build something like this.

Jeff...you are indeed a very patient man. Very nice detail. I love gears! I have some in my head somewhere...I can hear them rattle sometimes :D

Thanks for all the comments. I'm targeting a June date for completion but probably will be sooner since I can't remember having as much fun working in the shop as this project. I'm really glad I decided to tackle this engine instead of a simpler project. You can be sure that once it is working - there will be a video.
