    OT- Computer router

I currently use Hughes satellite internet, and I have a router which lets my wife and I use both our desktop and laptop. We have had enough of Hughes' pitiful email service, zero customer service, etc. We are going back to dial-up, if you can believe it, because it is dependable, slow but dependable.

My question is, can I still use the router on dial-up? The router uses RG45 connectors, and I've bee told an RG11 (phone connector) will snap in and still work. Will the router know any difference in what it's "routing"?

If the router has dial up capability it will work. That is usually only available on high end routers with dialup failover capability.

I suggest you try http://www.mybluedish.com/ instead of Hughes. Hughes is old tech. I use the Canadian version of Wild Blue. It's fairly reliable and the customer service has been good. It uses a new satellite with much higher bandwidth and spot beam capability which can handle many more users.

If you are in Canada the service is handled by http://www.xplornet.com/

I wondered why a computer router would be OT. <slaps self about head>
