Attackers Exploit Unpatched Explorer Flaw

Microsoft is warning (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/935423.mspx) Windows users that hackers are exploiting a newly discovered flaw. It enables criminals to hijack Windows PCs if users merely visit a hostile Web site with an Internet Explorer browser or open a specially crafted e-mail message.

This also affects IE7 on all but Vista and does affect e-mail on Vista. Firefox is not affected.

Conspiracy minded people will say this was intentional. Vista drastically under performs so a virus is developed to scare people into buying int.

This vulnerability applies to every version of Windows and Internet Explorer, including version 7. However, Microsoft says that people browsing with IE7 on the new Windows Vista operating system should be protected from this attack.

The attack works in Vista too, just not on a website opened in IE7. It affects all Microsoft OSes. All you need to do is view an e-mail with the malicous cursor file renamed as a jpeg and it will take over instantly. No attachment to open.
