Hi Lane,
Those "Precision" brand heads were an accessory for the old Pratt and Whitney jig bores.
I (unknowingly) bid against Mike C. (over at PM) on one and lost, and ended up getting a Tree taper boring head instead (oh, the shame ).
Mike has a great description of how the feed mechanism works here:
Basically, it doesn't self feed when facing. You just grab the knurled ring, dial in the cut, and then turn it loose.
Cheers,

They are not automatic facing heads like a Gamet, you have to feed them.
The knurled ring allows the cutting diameter to be adjusted while the tool is in motion by just grabbing it and adjusting, or using the stop rod and adjusting the little hand knob. The full kit has a crank handle to fit the hex socket in the knob for facing or grooving with the stop rod in place.
I have one here that has a broken feed gear. They were available as spares, and if anyone has one lying around I could use one.
The only downside of these is all that I have seen have an integral MT arbor, and cannot be easily adapted to R-8.Jim H.

There was a comment in one of the PM threads that there are thrust balls inside the head that come loose when you open it up (like a Jacobs ball bearing chuck), and that you might want to open it over a towel or something.
I also found a great lube for these precision boring heads: Lubriplate "Mag-00", which is an NGLI 00 grease. It's basically a thin gel, so it doesn't sling when the head is spinning like way oil. I used it on my Erickson Tenthset head and my Tree, and it makes the boring head silky smooth.
I got the tip for NGLI 00 grease from JRIowa, the lubrication guru on PM, in a thread about rotary table lube. It works great in a rotab, since it's thin enough not to drag the table, but not thick enough that it runs out all over the place while it's on the bench."Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did."
