Another year has passed. On the 25th April it is time to greet the dawn at the Cenotaph and remember those men of the Gallipoli campaigne . And all the men and women we owe so much from all conflicts.

Greetings Ken.

Yesterday was St Georges Day- and a few of us
oldies were dining out and chewing the fat. Talk got round to Aircraft carriers, the Durhams, Imphal where there was only the width of a tennis court between and my Squadron was trying to drop supplies in accurately.

My uncle was an OZ Anzac ambulance driver in 'the desert' and New Guinea.

Why not 'do' an Anzac thing? Why not, indeed?

Greetings to all you lot down under
from a RAF 31 Squadron 'Pommie' bastard.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Well I managed to raise myself out of the sack at 4.30am, dressed and dragged the flash wheelchair from the garage. At 5.30 the area about the Papakura cenotaph was filling fast. It was a larger crowd than I have seen previously and the service was good. Just quietly, I shed a tear or two. At the march past the crowd applauded.
Long may we honour them.

Thank God, not one word from a polititian.
