I have had one of the famous! HF grinders for about a year now and it still has the original wheels. recently, when I turn the grinder off and the whells start slowing down, there is a loud grinding noise which goes away after the wheels have slowed down considerably. No Noise on the start up and while running. Do I need balancing? Where do I start? Thanks for all info. DavidH.

I had a similar problem, with my HF grinder, found the mounting hub nut loose, retightened them, no more noise.

I had a slight noise on mine when turning it off. I pulled out the rotor and put it on the lathe between centers. I put one flange on with a nut and took a slight facing cut on it and trued the od. I then swapped end for end and did the same with the other flange. That did away with the noise.
