does anyone have any experience with these lathes? My neighbor has a 16 inch swing and a 5 foot bed with some tooling for $500. It will need alot of clean up is this a good price?

We had a Lehmann Hydratrol 36" swing x 32' between centers lathe,50HP motor. Verry nice to operate, the head stock was hydrolic drive, you could change speeds without stopping the spindle. In my opinion a very well made lathe.

Older large lathes ofter go for less than smaller ones because buyers don't have the room for them. Some times they don't have a high enough top speed for turning small dia. Also if you want to get a new chuck or other tooling for it can be very expensive.
