A couple of years ago, the DRO (mitutoyo DigiMatic) on the Bridgeport at work had one of the scales go bad. The long scale and the read out was still good. I called Mitutoyo and asked about repair or replacment and they told me that they don't make that kind any more but the guy I spoke to told me a couple of things to try to bring it back to life. That didn't work so the owner said to order a new DRO, so I did.

I installed the new DRO kit (the newer version of the Mitutoyo) and put all of the old stuff on the "shelf" in the shop where it sat until a few weeks ago. We had a visit from a new customer coming, so they decieded to clean up. When they went through the shop, the owner asked "Whats this??" So i told him want it was and he looked like he was thinking about throwing it out, so I offered to take it away for free. He took me up on my offer and its now sitting in my shop.

Since the good scale is too long to fit on my MillRite, I plan to install it on my lathe for carraige position. I've been looking for another scale, but no luck so far.

Any one have any ideas? Its a Mitutoyo 572-xxx series scale and I think something like a 6" one would be about right for the cross feed.

TIA

hi craig, I did something similar to my lathe. i had an old quailty DRO laying around. it was used on a bridgeport. being that the scales were to long for my lathe, I cut them down. here's a couple of pics....
