OT: Monitoring Internet Connection Speed

Is there a software that will allow me to monitor my internet connection speed and reliability? I'm having trouble with my wireless provider, but I can't really say too much unless I can verify with numbers what I seem to see in slow page loads, dropped connections, and such. Or is there just such a function included in Win XP Pro / Firefox that I haven't found?

Actually this is ON topic, since I use the internet to participate in this forum, look at pictures of machines, and buy tools.
