I am trying to locate a battery/cell that is 0.200" or less in diameter; 1.5 to 3 Volts. Alkaline would be best as I want to light several LEDs with it. I am currently searching but I know the vast knowledge here so I am also asking if anyone knows of one.
Small Diameter Battery (Cell): Not Really OT

Crack open a 9-volt. Inside you'll find six seperate cells of 1.5V each.
I don't know if they're under 1/4", but it's worth a look.

That's probably about the smallest conventional cell you're going to find. (Apart from "button" batteries.)
I've been told, however, that some specialty batteries, like ultracompact cellphone batteries, or the cells in tiny items like the iPod Nano, are similarly constructed of a group of subcells. I recall an online article showing Nano guts that showed the battery, and if I recall the proportions right, they'd be significantly smaller cells than even those in the 9V.
Where you would get them apart from scrapped iPods, I have no idea, nor how you would properly charge them- since they're likely Lithium Ion, and require a specialty charger, possibly even with an over-temperature sensor.

I'm looking at a cell that can't be more than about .2 across, and less in thickness. It's a AG4, or 377A, or CX86, or LR626W. Alkaline, 1.5v. I bet that would run an led for, let's see, about 14 seconds
I also saw at a hobby shop, a flat pack battery about the size of a credit card, and about .2 thin. Lithium, and rechargeable.I seldom do anything within the scope of logical reason and calculated cost/benefit, etc- I'm following my passion-

Herm,
Fantastic! That's exactly what I am looking for. I found them at Digi-Key. I had searched there previously but overlooked them. Panasonic makes them.
You say you have one in an LED flashlight. Lighting a few LEDs is exactly what I need to do. About how long does it last in that use?Paul A.

And if you look REAL close at an analog signal,
You will find that it has discrete steps.

The flashlight I have is .248 X 3.8 uses two betterys and one led. the paper that came with the light stated that it was good for fifty hours and the led 1000 hours. This is one of the few things that I have gotten from China that I'm happy with. light $10 replacement bat $3 ea

Herm,
Thanks. Sounds like the batteries would last almost forever in intermittant service, ehich is what I have in mind. This is the perfect solution.
Thanks again.Paul A.
