shaper question

I noticed when I opurchased my shaper someone before I had it bent the power traverse lever into a slight curvature. I have since noticed on many others the same thing has been done there is obviously an advantage in this but what is it ??? I can only think, it helps smooth out the motion to have a slight curve in this.I suppose it seems to make sense .I have left mine as such and not disturbed it anyone else thought,or noticed this???? If you have multiple ratchet wheels it allows you to better take advantage of them by reducing or increasing the angular motion of the pawl.

Actually, if you extend it too far without hand pulling it through a rotation they are self bending.

Speaking of feed stuff, how many teeth are on your replacement ratchet wheel, and what did you end up with for a cross-feed rate?
