I was at a friends place two weeks ago when his missus roles on up with the news that Ardmore Airfield was shutting down to traffic for an hour that afternoon. It turns out that there were to be some test runs of a Spitfire before it was broken down and shipped to Texas. I rushed home to get the Canon and here is what I captured. Excuse the image quality as I compressed them for upload. This was to be the last time we Kiwis would see this beauty although it did run again on the Saturday... FANTASTIC!!, directly over my home...what a beautiful sound and image.
I will dig out others of Sir Tim Wallis` Spitfire undergoing a rebuild, a Lancaster( I believe) and another that I cannot recall but no doubt someone will recognise. These were in the hanger that you can see in the background.
Any hoo, enjoy; because I sure did. I just wish that I had a better camera and skills:)

Probably going to the Confederate Air Force Museum (and they'll also likely fly her if they can - those boys are serious about their war birds).

The pilot brought her down for some mighty fine loooow level passes and there were plenty of rolls and steep climbs.
The Warbirds fly out of there quite often; the older stuff is always good to see.

Speedy...yer a lucky bugger to get to film that plane. Think about how lucky the dog is that actually gets to fly that old warbird. Gawd! I'm jealous of him.
