The articulation hitch was badly worn on this 570A John Deere Motor Grader. The owner called Larry at Cross Country Services to come and refurbish it.This is ...
My wife's uncle has a couple of Boretech machines at his machine shop. His shop being a job shop does quite a variety of different jobs throughout the week and these units have become indispensable. They are truly fascinating to watch and do beautiful job of reclaiming a worn out bore or cylinder.
Damned intereseting post! Could watch this stuff all day. Hard to believe he can do all that work for a $29.95 house call
Wonder what a job like that cost?

It is true, there is nothing free about freedom, don't be so quick to give it away.
We use 1 of these regularly in repairshop. Once in a while I get to use it! It is one of those jobs everyone wants to do cause once you start it you can stand back and drink coffee til it is done. All kinds of trick welding with this machine. Weld holes skipping sections. Face weld in round patern, ect.. All you need is $27,000 I think it was!
The last place I worked we bought a brand new portable unit. Can't remember the name now. It was blue and came in a $$$ metal box with a gazillion attachements. I googled it but can't find the same one.
The thing cost $14,000 Cnd a year ago. If they would have added the welder to it it would have been $19,000 Cnd.
That was a very slick machine. We where repairing the bores on a big coal bucket. The main bores where 16" dia. 20" wide and 10 feet apart. All manual buildup. One bore would take 8 hours to weld up with a wire machine.
When I googled these things I see there are some that look just as good but are a whole lot less money. I'm thinking that would be a good thing to add to my arsenal for my fab machine shop.

That's how I do it,but my setup is homebrew ran wi a 3/4" drill motor.
I am jealous of that welder though, man that would be sweet.I wonder if a spool gun could be adapted? All you would need is a angle tip ad a some heavy current slip rings.
YOD,round here that job would cost $1500+ parts cost,in all about $2-2,500.
Last job I did was on a JD644 loader bucket, four bushings built up by hand and line bored ran $1100,but they brought the bucket to me.
Nice
Lots of ideas from that clip.
Just slowed down here and I plan on building a small
line boring machine for forklift king pin repair
Getting tired of the 1/2" drill setup I have on
Wierdscience, any chance of getting pictures of your homemade outfit? I could see making a boring bar setup as an addition to my HSM work but I could never justify 14k+$ for a hobby.
TIA

So do they take the wire rotation into account or does the spool rotate as well.
Thinking out loud, got plenty of mig ends [ uses to make parts for pipe welders ] got angles and shrouds
Got a spare 200 amp 440v MiG with remote wire unit doing nothing.
Got loads of gear motors with variable speed
I make slip rings for the motor rewinders........................
