View Full Version : Horizontal Mill ID Help

I lucked out when a neighbor moved out of state and didn't want to take his small mill - he gave it to me. I've done some searching and have not been able to find any info on it or any reference to Machine World (Taiwan) or Tai You. It's a horizontal mill with a vertical head that bolts over the horizontal spindle (as shown in the photos). The horizontal spindle is a NMTB30 and the vertical is R8

Here are links to some photos:

Has anyone ever seen one of these or have any idea where I should go for info? Any thoughts on what oil to use in it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd write to the manufacturer. The mailing address is on the ID plate.

No help on the maker either, but for oil I would drain some out and see what it smells like first. If little or no oder then it's probably spindle oil,if it out right stinks then probably gear oil.

As to viscosity look up the SUS test in Machinery's handbook and you can home in on it.Pulling a cover or two might yield more info and might allow you to determine if it uses and oil pump or splash lube also.

Good looking stout little mill though, can't beat the price either!
