Q: what is the best way of changing the v- belt that runs between the main spindle and the 4 gang pulley on the above lathe. this belt is old and has become in poor shape and is causing vibration to my lathe.
is it better to replace with a v belt or the style with the snap links?
thanks ken

v belt interchangeable links is far superior.I would try that anytime see what others say.

I have a Craftsman 101.2 6" lathe. I went with the interchangeable link belt as Alistair suggests. I didn't want to take it apart every time the belt wore out. I have been running it for about three years now without a hitch. Best of luck Fred

I just put Fenner link belts on my 101.07383. The first time it takes 10 minutes to complete the belt. The 2nd time it takes 5 seconds. :p

Cut the old belt. Get a Fenner and never look back.
