Copied and pasted from the Government Liquidation Website: http://www.govliquidation.com/scrap.html

GL's estimated annual scrap generation is as follows:

Aluminum 1.5M Lbs
Brass 1.6M Lbs
Cardboard 3.0M Lbs
Copper 1.5M Lbs
High Temp Alloys 1.8M Lbs
Irony Aluminum 9.0M Lbs
Lead 4.0M Lbs
Mixed Metals 48M Lbs
Paper 13M Lbs
Tires/Rubber 94M Lbs
Stainless Steel 1.2M Lbs
Steel 126M Lbs

I get these prickly little pains inside my head just trying to imagine that much SCRAP. And I don't think that includes all the stuff that gets trashed overseas.

My wife says that much stuff wouldn't even fit in our yard!

But I think that was really a warning.

1.5m lb of aluminium, i'm guessing that would melt down to be a soild billet 10M x 10M x 5.5M high:eek:

it might fit in the yard but not in the mill or bandsaw:)

That's ok, I wanted a bigger mill and saw anyway.

Isn't that about the right size for a ladder truck with an auger or perhaps a milling bed made of a two pairs of box cars on parallel tracks under an oil derrick?

Aluminum is 171 pounds per cubic foot so that 10m x 10m slab would be closer to 10' thick.
