that was a very cool model and looked like it would make a challenging project. what exactly are they called and are there plans for them? way ot but what was the music in the video. i'm not a big classical fan but do like everything i have listened to by Vivaldi, and that sounded a lot like him.

Perfect project for Evan's new gear cutter.

Not really. You're pretty much going to need every diametral pitch in the series to get the correct orbital ratios. Evan's gear cutter only works for 1 diametral pitch (or a small range), so he'd have to make a complete set of gear cutters.

They're called orreries. Don't know about plans, but I have been designing one over time:

The classical music was Pachabel's Canon.

Love how they dont list a price...

5.99 a week for 52 weeks.
The information is there, but you have to dig for it.

Now that they have demoted Pluto it should be a lot easier. Getting Pluto to go inside Neptunes orbit would be a hard one to get right :D

Bob,

Very nice website with a lot of valuable information and links. Did you ever finish modeling yours in Rhino? Would love to see how Eugene cut the gears with his Taig.

Here's a nice Solar image for you ...
